‘Harshest punishments’ for North Korea

News

THE United Nations Security Council (UN) has voted for new sanctions (punishments) on North Korea following its latest nuclear test.

The new sanctions will restrict oil imports to a minimum and ban the country from exporting clothes – an attempt to starve the North of fuel and money for its weapons programmes.

Every member of the UN, including North Korea’s allies China and Russia, voted for the new sanctions.

More to come?

While the sanctions are harsh, they’re not as tough as the US pushed for them to be last week. American President Donald Trump even said that the US would consider stopping all trade with North Korea’s allies. This would include China, and cause lots of damage to economies around the world.

Another option was to completely stop the country from importing oil.

After the vote, the US ambassador to the UN told the Security Council after the vote: “We don’t take pleasure in further strengthening sanctions today. We are not looking for war.”

China responded by saying: “China will never allow the peninsula to descend into war and chaos.”

These North Koreans are absolutely crazy! They say they're communist, but they are not (proves communism doesn't work!) and they want war. For no good reason, no one is attacking them. I think North Korea are going to bomb Guam, and then there'll be war. I don't want war, nobody does, but I think it will happen.?
