Social media giant Facebook is testing a new ‘context’ button to help tackle fake news

FACEBOOK is testing a new ‘context’ button to help tackle the problem of fake news.

The button will allow users to find out more information about the source of a news story. That means which company or person has supplied the story.

The social media site says it wants to give users information to help them work out if an article is from someone they trust and if it’s likely to be truthful.

Why has Facebook introduced this?

Facebook has been criticized in the past for allowing fake news stories or misinformation to spread. The site has been working hard to combat this problem and help its users identify what is true and what is false, before sharing anything.

What is fake news and how do I spot it?
