Celebrity baby names: wacky or wonderful?

WELCOME to the world little Chicago West.
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West and her rapper husband Kanye West welcomed their third child last week – and gave her rather an unusual name!
The couple revealed they were calling the tot Chicago West, in reference to the American city where Kanye grew up.
Kim retweeted a post that read: “To everyone who thinks it’s literally pronounced as CHI. No. It’s ‘Shy’.”
The little girl was brought into the world via a surrogate, which is when a woman gives birth to another person’s baby. Kim had a lot of complications in her first two pregnancies and was advised against giving birth again.
Can we talk about celebrity baby names for a minute?
This is not the first time Kim and Kanye have chosen an unusual baby name. They called their first daughter, North West and their son, Saint West.
Similarly, lots of celebrities like to pick names which no one else has heard of. Here are some of our favourites:
- Buddy Bear – son of Jamie and Jules Oliver
- Princess Tiaamii – daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre
- Apple – daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
- Prince Michael II, nicknamed Blanket – son of Michael Jackson
- Blue Ivy – daughter of Beyoncé and Jay Z
- Huckleberry – son of Bear and Shara Grylls

Some can be kind of funny or nice, but lots of the time they are awful and I feel sorry for the kids. Especially with Kanye and Kim. I'm pretty sure one of their children is called 'East' so that people can laugh at how they're called 'East West' for a second and then leave them with their awful name.

I would say that wacky names are ruining that baby's future, but then they were born a celebrity so it won't really change their reputation!

I think that children should not be called names like these because it could lead to the child being bullied.

It is up to the parents what they call their children and quite frankly they are wonderful names even if a bit wacky and no matter what their name is you shouldn't judge just by name.

some names can be nice for celebrity's kids, but some can be teased about their name and that's not nice at all

Everyone has the right to call their child what they want even if the names are a bit wacky.
