I think they should be banned, because pupils go on their phones during class and they get their phones took off them. Pupils come to school to learn. NOT to turn into tech zombies.

Technology is taking over. Pupils come to school to learn, they should be safe. Social media can be upsetting and distressing.

we have a right to be able to do what we want at break as long as it is not being crule or breaking an important rule. there is no reason why it should be banned.

There is no need for a phone to accompany a person everywhere. Anyone can get dangerously addicted, causing severe medical issues.

I think phones should definitely be banned because pupils are spending way too much time on tech instead of concentrating on things they should be doing, like schoolwork ,for example.

I think they should be banned because it prevents social interaction. My school have banned them. I don’t like this but I value my time with friends more than time on my phone

Phone rules should not b so strict; you should b allowed a phone 2 call parents or friends but u should not have them in class and if u do not have them at breaks then u can talk 2 people instead (crazy thought!) ?

Phones are a danger to the health of pupils.They are constantly texting in class which disrupts their learning and ca be addicting. It is not only disruptive, but it is also disrespectful to the teacher and the whole educational process.This is why I think phones should be banned.

There are positives and negatives to having phones in schools.
Positives -
Students are able to use them for research if asked to in lessons.
They can take a picture of useful information when given permission in class.
They are able to contact people if in a serious situation or just needing to contact mum or dad to come pick them for whatever reason.
Negatives -
Students could use them in an unsafe or harmful way.
Pupils could use them in lessons when they have not been given permission.
They could take unecessary photographs of people in school uniform and post them on social media when the person who has been photographed has not given consent.
I voted no as I think that phones are very useful items when it comes to daily school life and that, as long as there is a clear phone policy at schools and students are aware of this and do not disobey the rules, they should be allowed at schools.

No, because phones are something that kids like so they might learn faster when they're happy with their tech. Only that they ARE NOT to use them in test so their brains can do the work NOT the internet. plus phones can keep them in touch with parents.

I think that yes because people still need some freedom. U can't make them not use phones just because u want to.

But people won't turn into 'tech zombies' just for having a phone around. That's ridiculous. People have self control and can definitely just not use their phones for a bit at break. And anyway, phones won't distract from people learning at break, because it's break/lunch time!

They are banned at my school. We need to get off our phones - school at break is for interacting with friends and phones distract them!

It can distract a pupils learning by the way of if they have their phones at break they could watch something inappropriate while not under a adults supervision and it can increases the chance of it being lost .

At my school, we aren't allowed our phones. They get confiscated if you're caught. But people still go on then anyway. I think that all phones should be banned because technology isn't that sociable

No because if there is an emergency and you don't have your phone on you, you won't be able to contact anyone also you can use your phones as a calculator in lessons with the teachers permission. moreover kids aren't tech zombies we are just responsible for the reasons above

I think they should be banned because school is DEFINITELY not about phones.

They certainly should be banned as my mum is a teacher and she is constantly saying about the fact that she hates children bringing their phones into school because some children play on their phones instead of listening in class.

i think that pupils can use their phones but they must be on aeroplane mode so they aren't going on social media but can play harmless games

We are human so we all have rights to do what we want to do. If that means using our phones then we can, still only at breaks unless we need them at breaks.

Yes!! In most schools around me they already have that rule but I am aware that many schools don't. The problem with phones is that lots of young people spend more time socialising online rather than with people around them. I think this is a bad thing because when people get addicted they will become antisocial and school breaks are great times for talking with one another.

School is a place of education and pupils learn life skills there, so, if something online happens at breaks, people might be distracted by it during lessons. Pupils should be allowed them, for travelling to and from school if their parents like them to phone them but they must be off throughout school ours, including breaks.

I can't believe people are actually thinking they should be banned. If students weren't allowed phones at school they would not be able to contact their parents eg if they needed to tell them when they were safely on the bus or at school. Primary schools yes there is no need for phones unless you are walking to school but at secondary you definitely need them to notify your parents etc and also you use it in class.

Also of course we shouldn't be allotted to use them during school hours escargot when teachers tell us to but we should obviously be allowed them to keep in our lockers or pockets. I can't believe someone would actually think we shouldn't be allowed that!

Think about safety, if they can't have phones in school then 'no' because they need to have contact with people when they travel home by themselves or if they need help, when they can't speak to the teachers. Although sometimes phones are being used to cyber-bully and that's a terrible thing to happen. They should to be allowed at least once a-day but not any more that 3 times a-day. But pupils don't come to school to go on their phones all the time. They come to learn.

Someone might have just bought a phone to use at school only to find out that phones would be banned in just less than a year. Soon they might only let some people use phones at school and that is just unfair. But some people might have just been bullied and would want them to be banned.

Phones are banned at our school but we're allowed them if our teacher says so for research or playing this cool game called kahoot.

I voted yes because in class we shouldn't use our phones as we wouldn't listen to the adult. Although we could use it as a calculator in Maths, children might take advantage of the fact that we are allowed to use mobiles and use it for other non-educational things as well as the calculator.
At break and lunch we shouldn't use it because bullies might take it as an advantage to bully other children without being caught by an adult- cyberbullying. Also, using our phones would mean that we don't do any exercise.

At my school, you hand your phone in at morning registration and get it back at lunch registration but if they see your phone then it gets confiscated! : (

Phones should be banned, but not during breaks. Sure, we go to school to learn, but we also go to have fun, but phones SHOULD be banned in class. ?
